How to Calculate the Ideal Portable Classroom Size for Your School

Formula 1: Classroom Size Based on Student Count

Classroom Total Area (sq. ft.) = Expected Number of Students × (15 to 20).

Formula 2: Classroom Size Based on Desk and Chair Count

A standard desk and chair occupy about 2.5 × 3 square feet. If you know the number of desks, the total area occupied = Desk Count × (2.5 × 3).

Formula 3: Classroom Size Based on Front Row Distance

Make sure there’s a minimum of 6 feet between the front row of desks and the blackboard.

This guideline helps maintain a comfortable distance between students and the blackboard, ensuring good visibility for all.

Formula 4: Classroom Size Based on Projector Viewing Distance

For classrooms with projectors or screens, calculate the optimal viewing distance. For example, a 120-inch (16:9) screen requires a viewing distance of around 17.7 feet for the best experience.

Formula 5: Classroom Size Based on Aisle Space Between Desks

Maintain at least 1.97 feet between rows of desks to ensure comfortable aisle space.
